AVID Tutoring

I've picked up a side job, I'm going to be an AVID tutor for Shelby Middle and High School. I'm so excited about it! AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and is designed for the middle portion of students who could be college bound but are often overlooked. The neat part for me is that it is not your normal form of tutoring. I will be tutoring a group of seven kids who will work collaberatively to find the answers to the qestions they have and I will be guiding them to the solution!

I can't wait to see how it goes, I'll let you know how it goes!

The past couple of days!

So here's the sand castle Thomas and I built on Tuesday. It's pretty fabulous, only the moat kept drinking up the water, so it's empty.

Today we went to La Belle Amie, a vineyard in Little River, SC which puts out some good stuff. We had a fun time and got some great supplies for a good mulling spice cider.

This thing was as you entered:

The awesome sign as you drive in:

Us at the wine tasting!

It's been a great few days, the only problem is that we have to leave on Saturday and I haven't done any homework. But what a true sabbath this week has been! Thank you God, we both needed this.

update

Usually, we go to Calabash and eat at the same restaurant. This year we decided to mix it up, and try a new restaurant... it was awesome! The Boundary House at Callahan's is where we went to eat. Thomas and I shared the potato soup and then I had chicken, bacon, and cheese quesadillas with fries. Thomas had a burger. It was a neat atmosphere! Loved it!

The Miller's (Berry and Monica) went with us to dinner. It was good to get to see them and catch up on how things were going with Justin and Jordan. Both the boys are getting married this year, Justin in October and Jordan in November.

I watched the craziest show on discovery health last night, quads with 2 moms. Interesting, look it up sometime.

I think we're going to go back to Calabash tomorrow to go shopping at St. Nick's and then maybe to Silver Coast Winery on Friday. We went last year and loved it so we'll probably go again. I'll make sure to put pictures up if we go!

What's the matter... got a little sand?

So two posts ago I refrenced a "sandy diaper butt". I realized I never responded to that comment, so here it is. For those of you that have ever been to the beach with me you know that I can't sit still to lay out, especailly in the heat. So, I decided to go sit in the soft part of the sand. I sat there probably for 30 minutes. Ocassionally, the waves would come in a push me around. What I didn't realize was happening during that was the waves were putting large amounts of sand in my bikini bottoms... and here is the result!

Oh what a night...

Today was another relaxing day. I spent the day by the pool. Did a little bit of reading for classes, and got some tan. Tonight, we had a great time watching the first Borne movie. I'm looking forward to doing the whole trilogy.

Here are some photos from yesterday as well, and one of me and my wonderful hubby from tonight!

Have I mentioned that I love this waffle maker! Waffles for breakfast for me, two days in a row! What fun!!

Monday

While all my Div school friends are in class... I'm sitting by the pool! Granted, I'm reading for class, but at least I'm still on vacation. I'm having a ball, spending time with family and relaxing. We played Cranium last night and the girls won! Who would expect any less? I'm going to try to get them to play Mexican train dominos at some point, but I think we're starting the Borne trilogy tonight. Oh, I can't wait to show you my sandy diaper look. I'll try to get Audrey's memory card sometime today, so that I can upload that picture.

The pool calls.

Beach

Today was our first day on the sand! Needless to say, Kenzie was having fun (If you can't tell from the pictures). The only bummer was that because of Hanna the ocean floor was majorly shell ridden, meaning that it hurt to go out at all and then you'd get pushed over in the waves because you didn't have a good balance due to the pain of your feet.

Ocean Isle is fun; it brings back good memories of the college days. More later!
